UT Consortium Agreements

A consortium agreement allows you to take classes at another State of Tennessee higher education institution and still receive aid from UT.

Can I Be Part of a Consortium Agreement?

To be considered, you must be:

• Enrolled in a minimum of nine CPOS/degree-applicable credit hours in a degree-seeking program at UT Knoxville
• Eligible for aid
• Enrolled as a transient student at the other State of Tennessee higher education institution where you wish to take classes
• In compliance with UT’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements

Students who do not meet UT’s SAP requirements are not eligible for a consortium. Learn more about SAP here.

Students who use a consortium agreement are required to have final transcripts sent back to UT within 90 days of completing the term. Aid for future semesters will be placed on hold until the transcripts have been evaluated.

Please note that not all schools will recognize a consortium agreement, so check with the other school before beginning this process!

Processing the Consortium Agreement

For the Consortium Agreement to be processed, you must do the following:

• Submit a copy of your host school schedule for the term you intend to use aid through the consortium agreement
• Submit a copy of how the courses will transfer back to UT
  • Review UT’s course equivalency tables to see if your college is listed

  Students who use the consortium agreement are required to have final transcripts sent back to UT within 90 days of completing the term. Aid for future semesters will be placed on hold until the transcripts have been evaluated.

  All financial aid resources from UT must be used to pay any costs charged by the host institution. This may include tuition, fees, housing and/or food. Excess financial aid disbursements for summer are standard for all students. We are not able to disburse excess aid before the date established in the One Stop calendar. You need to make arrangements to pay the host institution by the deadlines and be reimbursed by any excess financial aid you receive from UT.

  HOPE Scholarship Consortium Agreements

  If you do not qualify for a UT consortium, you may still be eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship. Please contact One Stop for more information on how to complete the necessary steps and documentation needed for this process.

  HOPE Consortium Agreements must be submitted by the date listed in the HOPE Consortium packet available at One Stop. HOPE awards are prorated based on the number of Course Program of Study (CPOS) hours you are enrolled and based on the HOST institution eligibility. Award amounts at community colleges are lower than the awards at four-year institutions such as UT.
